Web conferencing is a conferencing solution that enables sharing of information among collaborators of the conference using an interactive environment over the internet. With web conferencing, communication among collaborators is enhanced using different applications like virtual whiteboards. It also enables real-time audio conversation using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to enhance graphic presentations with audio. Minimum bandwidth requirement for web conferencing is DSL,Cable internet connection.

Video-conferencing is a real-time interaction among collaborators of different locations using monitor, camera, microphone, and speaker defining both audio and visual components of the communication. It combines both voice and video sharing of information among collaborators. The transmission of data requires a higher bandwidth compared to that of web conferencing. It requires common transmission protocol, either H.320 ISDN (phone) or H.323  IP  lines. A conference bridge is required to connect collaborators using different transmission protocols.
